Photograph of Scott Luk while photographing an event

Scott Luk is second year Marketing Business Administration and Video Production student at Durham College located in Oshawa Ontario. His dual programs have helped provide Scott with an ideal set of skills to excel in the creative world of Marketing, but do not be fooled, he has a strange love of data analytics and excel spread sheets.

During his time at Durham College, Scott found unique experiences that have helped shape and further his understanding of both photography, videography and marketing. Writing and photographing for the Japanese English newspaper, the Nikkei Voice, Scott has covered a range of events from the 2019 Dragon Ball Charity Gala, Haru Nemuri concerts, and Anime conventions. Meanwhile, Scott also sought to find more experience in the burgeoning medium of live streaming, working as live stream support for the Ontario Tech’s Robot in 3 Days Challenge. During the course of the 3 days Scott conducted interviews, created daily progress updates, and also managed the all day live streams. Scott’s time was not just focused on content creation, he also was part of Durham College’s Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition team. Competing the Integrated Marketing Communication category, Scott attended weekly practice sessions to create unique and effective marketing solutions for casestudies.

Scott is more than just the work he does. Scott find’s enjoyment in his range of hobbies; rock climbing, mixology and cinema. Picking up these hobbies throughout the years Scott seeks to expand more than just his knowledge about his crafts and seeks to expand his understanding of his hobbies. Clinging to walls since 2017, Scott has finds himself constantly enthralled with the sport of climbing. The combination of physical and mental effort required to piece together how to “send a climb” enthralls Scott.

Scott’s newest hobby of mixology was an outside the box idea to help on his quest of sobriety. Sophisticatedly explained by Scott as “taking something objectively kinda yucky and making it taste good is great,” he finds pleasure in creating drinks with unique and complex flavour profiles that people will enjoy.
Finally Scott’s, love of cinema ultimately stems from his love of story telling. Enveloped by a story, Scott loves all cinema, from avant garde french films to modern block busters full of explosions, he is here for it all.
